FUNDRAISING

HOW DO WE GENERATE FUNDS?

Since many of Bob Whitman’s family and friends are musicians, the idea of a musical benefit named Bobfest arose naturally. Bob was a musician since childhood, dabbling in drums before settling on electric guitar in his teens. He was in a band in high school and continued playing for pleasure throughout his adult life. The BWRF directors have brought to life:

  • an evening of entertainment with refreshments

  • celebrating our good memories

  • keeping Bob’s spirit alive

  • a big party to benefit our cause

A large portion of the admission charge to Bobfest is directed towards our stated mission, to fund cancer research, primarily research towards a cure for melanoma cancer.  We keep our costs down by having the administrative work done by our volunteer base, especially the Board of Directors. None of the Board Members receive any compensation for their time and talents. Our friends and extended family work behind the scenes to organize and staff the sign-in table, sell the raffle tickets, order and attend the food served, and most importantly arrange for outstanding musicians to entertain our Bobfest guests.

We are now showcasing our 13th Annual Bobfest to be held on Sunday November 10th,  2013 at S.P.A.C.E. in Evanston. This year we have fine tuned our planned grants, fueled our efforts to raise the maximum amount of money, and plan to expand into new partnerships in the melanoma community. The time for a breakthrough in new cutting edge treatments for all types of cancer is NOW!
